Meet Princess Emily………….
Emily is a very special, brave young girl that is battling a stage 4 high risk cancer called neuroblastoma. She has just turned 4 years old since August and I’m told she is the nicest little person you could ever meet by one of our lovely clients, who is a family friend. Emily lives close by in Celbridge, Co Kildare and lived a normal life up until the age of 3.

With most of my girls in the salon having a young family, we can’t bare to think of how hard it is to be so brave in Emily’s position, we all agreed Emily’s family is battling our worst nightmare and we were all emotionally effected by reading up on this ‘princess’ battling such an illness. So we had a taught…..
We taught that it was time to give back, be grateful of the healthy position we are in and take advantage of what our salon has to offer. We are pulling out every stop possible in order to help Emily be able to travel to either Australia or the U.S for the DFMO clinical trial.

For those that don’t know what the DFMO clinical trial is, here it is….
The DFMO clinical trial is offering hope to children with hard to treat relapsed neuroblastoma. It is developed from research done at the children’s cancer institute, it runs across 16 hospitals in Australia and the US.
DFMO drug acts by blocking the production of a molecule that is required for cells to grow and proliferate. Researchers have shown that neuroblastoma cells are extremely sensitive to the action of DFMO and that when it is used in combination with other drugs, it blocks the growth and progression of tumour cells. This is because the molecules DFMO targets play a critical role in the development of neuroblastoma.

Imagine being told your child has a 20% chance of survival if she relapses, this is after her battling through a year or two of intense treatment and beating this horrific illness. You really would wish and hope that everyone around you that was in a position to help, would create as much awareness as possible.

Let’s use our tools, to help Princess Emily recover forever…….
